antitrust authorities said on Wednesday they had approved Allergan Inc.'s (AGN.N: Quote, Profile, Research) proposed $3.2 billion takeover of breast implant maker Inamed Corp.

(IMDC.O: Quote, Profile, Research) after the companies agreed to divest the rights to a wrinkle treatment that could compete with Allergan's Botox.

The Federal Trade Commission voted unanimously to approve the deal on the condition that Allergan and Inamed return the development rights of the treatment, Reloxin, to Ipsen Ltd., its British-based manufacturer.

The agency said the deal would have probably harmed consumers without the divestment because it would have removed Reloxin as an imminent competitor ...
